When You Reach for the HSP Aroma "Pull In"
― My Experience, and Choosing to Protect Myself
FUUKA's HSP series includes a scent called "Pull In."
But honestly, I used to feel a little uncomfortable with this one.
That's because the word "retreat" (or "escape") carried a negative image for me.
Caught in a habit of overworking myself, and a habit of always blaming myself—in that mindset, "escaping" was something I felt I wasn't allowed to do.
What My Own Senses Were Telling Me, Honestly
Around that time, I made a habit of listening closely to my own senses and choosing whichever scent my hand reached for intuitively.
A way of honoring the moment my body reacts with "this is it," before my mind has a chance to think it through.
One day, "Pull In" kept getting chosen, again and again.
As I searched for why, I found a version of myself who, though I couldn't tell anyone, had truly reached my limit.
What Lies Behind the Habit of "Overworking Myself"
As an HSP, I'm the type who worries too much about others, and smiles through things even when I'm hurting.
But I may have been mistaking that for "strength."
I feel like "Pull In" was telling that version of me this:
"You don't have to push yourself anymore."
"Come retreat here, and take a deep breath."
Retreating Isn't Running Away — It's Time to Find Yourself Again
In Japan, the belief that "running away = a bad thing" still runs deep.
But I've come to think differently.
What you really need is to step away, even briefly.
Because it's only by stepping away from a situation that you can finally see your own emotions clearly.
Even now, I can't quite say I "love" this scent.
But somehow, it's the one my hand reaches for whenever I truly need it.
That, I've come to believe, is the power of "Pull In," and its role as a refuge for the heart.
Creating a Place to Retreat, Through Scent
We all carry anxiety and loneliness we can't tell anyone about, day after day.
At times like that, scent can quietly give us a place to return to.
"Pull In" is exactly that kind of scent—a quiet switch for restoring yourself.
It's okay to retreat.
What matters is holding a place to return to, within yourself.
We hope this scent can become that kind of presence for you too.
